Understand plans and message usage charges
Your Shopify app subscription and message usage are separate from prices you charge shoppers.
How to use it
- Open Billing & Subscription to review your approved plan and usage.
- Use View plans or Upgrade Plan to open Shopify’s plan selection.
- Review the current Shopify price and terms before approving any change.
- Check the usage breakdown and Shopify invoice for message charges.

What to know
The current plans are Essentials at $10/month and Plus at $20/month, in USD. Plus adds multi-address orders. Text/SMS message usage is $1 per message; audio and video are $2 each. Wraps, bags, physical greeting cards, upsells and native gift cards have no additional PrepMyGifts message usage fee.
Both current plans offer a 15-day recurring-fee trial, with message usage billed separately. Legacy subscriptions retain approved terms until changed; Shopify’s displayed agreement is authoritative.
Message usage is recorded from message quantities on paid orders. The shopper price you set in Gift Messages is a separate charge paid to your store; it does not replace the app’s usage fee.
What happens next
Your approved plan controls feature access and Shopify bills the applicable recurring and usage charges.
