Choose how inventory is checked
Choose how the multi-address flow checks product availability.
How to use it
- Open Multi-address shipping → Inventory handling.
- Choose Use Shopify inventory to check Shopify stock, Merchant handles inventory to manage availability yourself, or Use manual product counts to enter your own limits.
- For manual counts, choose Set counts for eligible products and enter a count for each product you want to offer.
- Save and check an order with quantities sent to several recipients.
What to know
A manual count covers all variants of that product and all recipients in one order. For example, two units sent to four recipients require a count of at least eight. A missing or zero count blocks the product.
Manual counts are not reserved or reduced after payment; keep them up to date yourself. Shopify stock checks also do not reserve stock, so two orders can compete for the same items.
What happens next
Quotes and checkout checks use the chosen availability approach. The merchant must resolve any later fulfillment shortage.
